Bio:

Artist, Dennis Currie, is currently based in Gananoque, Ontario. Dennis, a graphic design graduate out of St. Lawrence college, has chosen charcoal on canvas as his medium. Dennis has shown his work through various venues in Gananoque, is member of GAN (Gananoque Arts Network), and previously had a solo showing in downtown Gananoque that was open to the public. Working at a large scale, the artist explores the contrast of form and shape, while also exploring the archetypes of the human psyche.

Statement:

“In a world of colour, I have chosen to explore basic line and form through the medium of charcoal. Working with charcoal brings me a sense of immediacy that no other medium can satisfy. In my last showing (2021), I chose the title, “Between Light and Darkness” to represent the theme and body of my charcoal drawings. This title describes the journey I would like to take through the medium of charcoal. “Between Light and Darkness” is an ongoing theme that explores the questions of faith, perception, and belief, in a stark world of contrast and deep pondering.”
