Bio:

Emily Adams is a multidisciplinary artist based in Kingston, Ontario. Her work is often humorous and confrontational in nature, exploring themes of feminism, neurodivergency and mental Illness, as well as the queer lived experience.

Statement:

The Juggalo subculture has always fascinated me, as it exists unabashedly on the fringes of society, and celebrates a genre of music that many (myself included) don't particularly enjoy. It's aesthetics are bizzare and often maligned, yet the fandom has persisted for decades and maintains a tight-knit community that takes pride in itself. My juggalo studies, largely based on the photographs of Nate "igor" Smith from The Gathering Of The Juggalos, aim to examine and celebrate this strange community, and explore the unusual beauty of a group many consider tacky and laughable.
