A high performance paint known for its unique consistency, vibrancy and range of colour selection. Colours are thick and creamy with the ability to hold extreme textures and the fidelity and signature of a brush stroke normally associated with oil paints. It is manufactured with 100% finest acrylic emulsion and highest-grade pigments to reveal authentic pigment characteristics and colour chroma.

The rich colours are smooth and easily manipulated with a brush or palette knife. They may be used alla prima or with mediums to extend, control viscosity and luster. Due to their high pigment concentration, extending with mediums is recommended.

All pigments have been selected for permanence, purity and lightfastness. There are no fillers or extenders used in the formulas. The pigment size and shape dictate the colour's gloss value. Once dry, the paint film will remain flexible and resistant to climatic changes.

How to use this high viscosity acrylic

Use Tri-Art High Viscosity - Cadmium Yellow Medium (Hue) on primed canvas, wood panels, or heavyweight paper. Seal raw surfaces with an acrylic gesso or suitable ground before painting for the best adhesion and colour strength.

Work straight from the tube or jar with brushes and palette knives, or mix it with Tri-Art acrylic mediums to change the gloss, transparency, or thickness. A small amount of water can be used for minor thinning, but mediums will maintain better film strength and flexibility.

Allow thin layers to dry before overpainting if you want crisp edges and clean colour. Thicker passages will take longer to dry all the way through. Clean brushes and tools promptly with soap and water, and avoid letting paint dry on your tools.

Technical details and safety

Tri-Art High Viscosity acrylic uses an acrylic polymer binder that dries to a tough, flexible film. Most colours dry to a satin to semi gloss finish, depending on the pigment and the thickness of application. Many hues in the range use single pigments, which helps with clean, predictable colour mixing.

This paint is fully compatible with other Tri-Art acrylic lines and mediums, as well as most professional acrylic systems. It is water based and low odour, but you should still avoid ingestion and contact with eyes. Keep containers closed when not in use, store at normal room temperature, and protect from freezing.
