Rheotech’s Acrylic Gesso is made with 100% acrylic and contains calcium carbonate for the best strength, adhesion, coverage and flexibility. It creates a slightly porous ground, suitable for both acrylic and oil paints. Rheotech Gesso dries to a matte, white, opaque finish with a slight tooth that can be sanded to provide a smoother surface. It has excellent adhesion to surfaces and will not lift, crack or chip from the surface. Rheotech Gesso is truly white for a highly reflective ground which will enhance colours. For creating custom reflective coloured grounds, Rheotech Gesso can be tinted with Rheotech Acrylic Colours.
About Rheotech acrylic paint
Rheotech - Gesso is a single colour in the Rheotech acrylic range, a dependable creamy acrylic paint designed for classrooms, studios, and murals. It has a smooth, easy brushing consistency that covers well on paper, canvas boards, and primed surfaces.
Gesso adds a distinctive note to your palette and mixes well with neighbouring hues.
Rheotech is made in Canada and offers a strong balance of performance and affordability, making it ideal for teaching, workshops, and high volume studio use.
At Art Noise, we recommend this line when you need solid colour and mixability without the cost of a top tier professional range.
How to use Rheotech acrylic in the studio or classroom
Use Rheotech - Gesso on primed canvas, heavy paper, cardboard, plaster, and many craft surfaces. For best results, seal very absorbent or raw surfaces with an acrylic gesso before painting.
Apply with brushes, rollers, or sponges. Thin slightly with water for washes, or mix with acrylic mediums for glazing, extended open time, or extra durability. For classroom use, decant small amounts into palettes or trays so students can share colours easily.
Wipe excess paint from brushes and containers before washing, then clean with soap and water. Encourage students to clean tools promptly so paint does not dry on brushes or in sinks.
Technical details and safety
Rheotech acrylic uses a water based acrylic polymer binder and typically dries to a matte or low sheen finish. It can be combined with many standard acrylic mediums and varnishes if you would like to adjust the surface gloss or protect finished work.
Treat Rheotech as an artist material rather than a toy. Avoid ingestion and contact with eyes, and keep products out of reach of very young children when unsupervised. Store containers with lids tightly closed, and protect them from freezing or extreme heat to maintain a consistent paint texture.
