Let’s talk! Join us each month for a new series designed to educate, network, and inspire where various local creatives will discuss art-related topics they’re passionate about.
Each session will include a half hour talk, with time for Q&A afterwards, plus snacks and drinks on us!
Registration in advance is recommended to save a seat, but drop-in spots may be available! Please keep in mind that because Art Talks take place after Art Noise officially closes for the day, we lock the main doors at 7:30. Any participants who arrive late may not be able to gain entry.
Tuesday, May 26th: 7:30 - 9: Shannon Dickie - Dos & Don'ts in Self-Representation to Galleries. This month join Shannon Dickie as she talks through her 17 year journey as a professional artist and how you can set yourself up to apply to galleries in Toronto and beyond
Tuesday, June 23rd: 7:30 - 9: Maddi Andrews from Cultivate Art Commons - An Introduction to Artist-Run Centres. Join Maddi Andrews, Executive Director of Cultivate Art Commons (formerly Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre), for an introduction to Artist-Run Centres. She'll explore what they are, who they support, and how they operate, along with highlighting programs at Cultivate Art Commons and opportunities to get involved.
Wednesday, July 29th: 7-8:30pm: Tri-Art Substrates Demo with Tori. You’re ready to paint, but paint on WHAT? From natural substrates like canvas and birch wood to sleek, modern alternatives like aluminum and bamboo, learn the pros and cons of each substrate to be able to pick the perfect base for your next piece
Wednesday, August 26th: 7-8:30pm: Capture Your Surroundings - An Urban Sketching Talk with Sumera Khan. Urban sketching is the art of drawing the world around you, quickly, honestly, and without pressure for perfection. In this talk, Sumera will discuss what urban sketching is, why artists love it, and how you can start sketching your own surroundings today. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your practice, discover how loose lines and simple techniques can help you see things in a whole new way. Talk includes a live demo and supply recommendations.
